absent winter notwithstanding, spring cannot come too soon

each of my triumphs is small and private.

i finished repainting the back room addition, installing curtain rods and hemming drapes. the room's shoddy construction made the project so much more difficult than it should have been, involving optical illusions and trigonometry. i was eager to show off the project to friends visiting, but nobody cared at all. well. i am very pleased with myself.

i took the children to the playground and traversed the monkey bars once, twice, three times.

the house is clean enough, lately. the children are happy and healthy and well fed. inflation dogs the heels of the middle class, and i am a good steward of our household finances.

it is woad, the 26th day of pluvĂ´ise. i am a good parent, and surely, for the moment, at least a good-enough spouse.

i can do better. better and better yet.

reading: the open road, by jean giono. rather marvelously, my sister-in-law is organizing a family book club.
listening to: buffy sainte-marie, illuminations. she was ahead of her time.
working on: catching up on the laundry. is it ever otherwise.
in the garden: snowdrops are surfacing. no crocuses yet. still waiting.
