the skies and the elements
it's dark so early now. i bundle my son into his little red wagon and walk him around the block to see the holiday lights. there aren't any lights on our house. maybe next year. i am stringing popcorn and cranberries for the christmas tree. this is not fun. it builds character. overnight, the weather becomes incredibly, unseasonably warm. awake in the dark yard, i see the stacked logs from our fallen tree glowing a dim bioluminescent green. overhead, an updraft carries shed leaves from the oak tree higher than seems like it should be possible.
* * * reading: slow days, fast company, by eve babitz. i'm glad eve babitz is still alive. listening to: robinson and rohe, the longest winter. working on: finishing the last few christmas things. in the garden: it is so warm outside that i have thrown all the windows open.
