a downpour in late may

deep cleaning my closet - an activity that yields a bone-deep sense of satisfaction and calm.

working in the garden - always a frisson of resentment, mourning the plants i can't grow because my fucking neighbors' fucking pesticides and herbicides and fertilizers drift and drain into my property.

working on a business plan - there's got to be something i can sell to all these rich people getting richer.

here at home, our aspirations become more focused, defensive and smaller, finances squeezed on all sides.

go tougher, more resilient, a weedier habit. what else is there to do?

reading: best of c*t v*lente, just out. she's one of just two people to whom i've felt blatantly inferior, intellectually - the other is the mathematician m*ke st*el. a valuable feeling.
listening to: my son is playing "the lava song" on his ukulele. every penny spent on lessons paid back double in joy.
working on: laundry.
in the garden: i need rocks. my legs are so bruised from getting rocks and moving them, and i need so many more.
