my march garden
today, i put my vegetable starts in the ground. i'm just only growing tomatoes, peppers, wax beans and bok choy this year. next year, i will have more good soil and more space for vegetables. right now, the daffodils and early irises are simply glowing. * * * to plant in the fall and come next spring:
- Narcissus canaliculatus - miniature with a slightly reflexed, white perianth and a golden-yellow crown.
- Narcissus 'Suzy' - jonquilla narcissus with a canary-yellow perianth and a shallow reddish-orange crown.
- Narcissus 'Thalia - of course.
- Iris danfordiae - perhaps?
* * * reading: the serpent of stars, by jean giono, trans. jody gladding. i had started reading this one in french, and thought i had been finding it difficult because my french is poor. turns out, it is just a difficult book. listening to: black mountain - heart of snow. working on: a paper, a problem set, and another tiny sweater.
