as a hyperbolic curve approaches a straight line
around us, there is a moat as wide as an entire forest. we've built a fortress against the wind outside. it's my birthday, at least for another quarter of an hour. this afternoon, i took a long walk in the rain through the winter garden. later, some friends stopped in, and it was a very nice evening. 1 + 2 + 4 + 7 + 14 = 28; that is, it will be a perfect year.

reading: lecture notes and syllabi. it's back to classes tomorrow.
