birdwatching

the owl looked like a paper grocery bag blown high into a leafless tree. as the light failed, people gathered with binoculars and cameras, waiting to see her fly off.

she soared out over the lake on wide, powdery wings. everyone breathed, "ahhhh, nice!"

there is a shimmering, upside-down city that makes its home in the water. there is a great horned owl that makes its home in the ramble.
