already september
sunsets over the town beach, lightning bugs and bonfires in the backyard. as overnight temperatures dip into the low fifties, the late-summer chorus of crickets and katydids grows slow and logy. we have the flowers that see us through until the first frost.
* * * reading: flower catalogs. listening to: the wind chimes. working on: resurfacing the driveway. in the garden: fall greens and root crops are planted, herbs are cut and dried. i ordered hundreds of tulip bulbs to plant in a new cutting bed beside the driveway.
