the weather changed, and the power went out on our street. we came home through the rain to a dark house.

here, the resistant rocks of the foothills give way to the softer rocks and sediments of the coastal plain.

ask from one end of the sky to the other: did anything so great ever happen before?

in the garden: the day lilies are blooming. last year, i moved a sad little plant from the shade into the sun, and this year, it is blooming an unexpected shade of peachy pink.
