h is for here now
it's unambiguously autumn. there are pumpkins and 'mums on the front stoop, and i am making pyracantha jelly. it smells like apples and looks like blushing golden honey.

pyracantha jelly
simmer 7 cups of washed and picked pyracantha berries together with 5 cups of water for 20 minutes. next, strain out the seeds and pulp and throw them away. cook the remaining juice down to 5 cups, mix with 1/2 cup lemon juice and 7 cups sugar and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. then add a pouch of liquid pectin and boil for one minute. skim off the foam and pour into prepared jars.
