unmoored from whatever held your heart

i wanted to stay in your apartment forever. i would have tended the verdant tangle blocking the light from the window. i would have brewed endless pots of tea and sat in my pyjamas at your kitchen table reading books from your shelves with my feet tucked up under me. i would have looked up and smiled when you came into the room, every time.

i've grown since we parted ways. honestly, i've become much more beautiful. i wish you would have stayed around to see how my face is settling onto my bones.
